New Braunfels child care center

Our journey

Hill Country Day School is opening in Fall 2026 in New Braunfels, Texas. Our campus at 144 River Chase Way sits on 5.5 acres at the intersection of Highway 306 and River Chase Way, offering easy access for families in River Chase, Havenwood, The Pinnacle, and surrounding communities, including Gruene and the growing Mayfair and Lacky developments.

We broke ground on our building and are actively preparing to open our doors to children ages 8 weeks through Pre-K 4. Every decision along the way, from how our classrooms are designed to who we hire to lead them, has been made with intention.

Hill Country Day School will offer dedicated infant care rooms and onsite therapy services available to both our school community and the broader New Braunfels area. We are not building just another childcare center. We are building the school this community has been waiting for.

Our focus is on

Serving children aged 8 weeks through 5 years of age.

Our 5.5-acre campus is designed to get children outside and into nature every single day. From stroller walks with our youngest infants to outdoor classroom time on our large covered porch, the natural world is not a field trip here. It is part of the daily rhythm.

We serve children across eight dedicated classrooms, each named for a Texas wildflower, and each designed to reflect the age and developmental stage of the children inside. Our teachers are not babysitters and they are not lecturers. They are guides who know your child, follow their curiosity, and help them grow into confident, connected people.

We believe the families we serve are partners in that work. You know your child better than anyone, and we want that relationship to show up in how we communicate, collaborate, and care for your family every day.

The Texas mockingbird, known for its adaptability, intelligence, and vocal abilities, offers a rich symbol for childcare and preschool environments.

Here’s how the characteristics of the Texas mockingbird can be meaningfully connected to the ethos and activities of a childcare or preschool setting:

01

Adaptability

The mockingbird thrives across wildly different environments without losing what makes it distinctly itself. We think about our children the same way. Our job is not to fit every child into the same mold. It is to meet each child where they are and help them navigate new situations with confidence and curiosity.

02

Mimicry & Learning

The mockingbird learns by listening, watching, and practicing. Young children learn exactly the same way. Before they can read a word or solve an equation, they are absorbing language, relationships, and the world around them through observation and imitation. Our environments are designed with that in mind.

03

Communication

The mockingbird has a distinct voice and uses it to connect with its environment. Helping children find and use their own voice is central to everything we do, whether they are learning to name a feeling, share an idea, or ask for what they need.

04

Vigilance

The mockingbird is fiercely protective of its nest. Safety at Hill Country Day School is not just a policy, it is a culture. Our teachers are trained in Active Supervision, our campus is secured with keypad access, and every space is designed so that children are always visible and always cared for. Families leave their children with us knowing that protection and attentiveness are built into everything we do.

05

Joy & Entertainment

The mockingbird sings because that is simply what it does. It is not performing. It is being fully itself. That is exactly what childhood should look like. At Hill Country Day School, joy is not a reward for finishing work. It is the whole point. Learning that happens through play, music, movement, and laughter is not less serious than any other kind. It is actually more effective, and more memorable.
