New Braunfels child care center

Our journey

Hill Country Day School aims to be in operation for the 2026 school year. We have purchased a lot off of 306 to start our building journey. We are collaborating with our architect to design a layout that supports our envisioned learning environment. We aim to begin construction in the first quarter of 2025.

Conveniently situated at the intersection of Highway 306 and River Chase Way, our location offers easy access for residents of River Chase, Havenwood, The Pinnacle and is only 6 miles away from Gruene and the new Mayfair and Lacky developments!

We are committed to offering a top-tier, child-centered education. We are pleased to introduce dedicated infant care rooms and onsite therapy services, available to both our school community and the broader New Braunfels community.

Our focus is on

Serving children aged 8 weeks through 5 years of age.

Our vision includes offering opportunities for our youngest children to enjoy fresh air through nature walks and stroller rides on our 5.5 acre property, as well as outdoor classes on a large covered patio.

We are enthusiastic about assembling a dedicated team of educators and staff who are passionate about creating a nurturing and enriching learning environment for every child. Ensuring fair and equitable compensation for our valued staff is a top priority, as we recognize the dedication of individuals who may not always receive the acknowledgment they deserve. We strongly advocate for child-led learning and aim to foster collaboration with parents.

The Texas mockingbird, known for its adaptability, intelligence, and vocal abilities, offers a rich symbol for childcare and preschool environments.

Here’s how the characteristics of the Texas mockingbird can be meaningfully connected to the ethos and activities of a childcare or preschool setting:

01

Adaptability

Mockingbirds are highly adaptable, thriving in varied environments across Texas. This trait can be paralleled in a childcare setting, emphasizing the importance of helping children adapt to new situations and challenges. By fostering adaptability, preschools prepare children to navigate the diverse environments they will encounter throughout their lives.

02

Mimicry & Learning

The mockingbird is famous for its ability to mimic the sounds of other birds and even mechanical noises. This ability is a wonderful metaphor for the learning process in young children, who absorb and replicate the language, behaviors, and skills they see around them. A preschool can integrate this concept into its learning philosophy, encouraging children to explore and mimic as they learn new concepts and skills.

03

Communication

With its varied and complex songs, the mockingbird is a master communicator. In childcare, effective communication is key—both in terms of how educators communicate with children, and in teaching children how to express themselves. The mockingbird can symbolize the goal of helping children find their unique voices, just as the mockingbird uses its song to interact with its environment.

04

Vigilance

Mockingbirds are known for their vigilant behavior, particularly when guarding their nests. This can be likened to the protective and nurturing environment that childcare centers provide. Educators watch over their students with care and attention, ensuring their safety and well-being, much like the mockingbird watches over its young.

05

Joy & Entertainment

The songs of the mockingbird not only serve practical purposes but also bring joy and entertainment to those who listen. Similarly, a key component of effective early childhood education is the incorporation of play and joy. Learning through play, music, and art can be highlighted as essential for cognitive and emotional development, inspired by the cheerful nature of the mockingbird's singing.
